Home Depot and Target officially coming to Cookeville
Home Depot and Target will be opening at the future site of The Willows in Cookeville. First question: What is The Willows?
It’s referred to the Willows Shopping Center, and according to CHM Construction (CHM), the company that also helped develop the Shoppes at Eagle Point on Interstate Drive, construction has begun on the shopping center located at the Southeast corner of S. Willow Avenue and I-40 in Cookeville next month. The Willows is situated on the 40-acre tract of land and feature Home Depot and Target, as well as other restaurants.
“We have been working on bringing these two retail giants to Putnam County for several years, and it’s nice to finally see our efforts come to fruition. During my term as county mayor, these two retailers have been, by far, the most requested by our citizens. From day one, my goal has been to offer as many retail options here locally as possible, with large and small businesses both being important. It’s a win-win scenario when we can give so many of our citizens what they want while also keeping more of our sales tax dollars in our home county,” said Randy Porter, Putnam County Mayor.

It’s finally official!! Home Depot and Target have purchased property in the new Willows Shopping Center at I-40 and Willow Ave.
After years of speculation, it has been officially announced that Cookeville will be home to both a Target and Home Depot store in a new development on South Willow Avenue near I-40.
Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter made the announcement on his Facebook page.
“We have been working on this project for years, and it is finally coming to fruition,” Porter said. “Site work will begin immediately with plans to open the new shopping center in Fall of 2026.”
The city of Cookeville, Putnam County, and CHM, LLC celebrated the official groundbreaking for the Willows, a new multi-retail development now under construction and with an expected opening date of October 2026. The Willows will bring two highly anticipated retailers to the city, Home Depot and Target. Both national brands have secured their local retail locations. In addition to these big-box giants, the development is expected to bring an exciting variety of new shopping and dining establishments to the area.
